Walls and Trusses

Over the last two weeks, the walls and trusses have gone up, and we can see our new church building taking shape! Because of our close proximity to Glacier Park International Airport, using a crane to install the trusses would have required a special permit. To avoid permitting delays, we utilized a truss attachment on a gradall instead. This process took 2 days from start to finish, instead of a potential 45 day delay. The middle section of trusses will be built and delivered this week. Many thanks to Raino Niemela (project manager), the framing crews, the ladies preparing and delivering meals and snacks, and all the volunteers who have helped on the building project.  Above all, thanks go to God, for granting willing hearts to serve.

Concrete Pour

On Friday, May 8th, the concrete floor pour began at 5:00 am with a large turnout of volunteers.  The main pour was completed by 10:00 am; the finishing work and control joints were finalized by the end of the day. In addition to the main floor pour, the crews poured six parking lot light footings as well as the front entry footings and columns, utilizing a total of 230 cubic yards of concrete. This is a major milestone in the project. Now framing can begin!

Pre-Slab Work: Last week of April

Work continues to progress on the Flathead Valley Laestadian Lutheran Church build.  During the last week of April, the crew completed the pre-slab preparation, including the installation of the vapor barrier, gravel pour, and the rebar.

Foundation Work Continues

Over the last couple weeks, we have made steady progress on the foundation despite variable weather. The foundation walls are insulated, and both the exterior and interior of the building have been backfilled. Additionally, the under-slab plumbing is complete and backfilled. We are currently holding off on floor preparation due to the recent cold and snow in the valley; we will resume as soon as the weather improves to proceed with the concrete pour.

Foundation Inspection Approved / Stem Walls Poured

The foundation inspection was approved on Monday, April 6, 2026.  The footings are complete and the foundation stem walls have been poured.

Groundbreaking

Welcome to the Flathead Valley Laestadian Lutheran Church building project update page.   After several years of prayerful discussions and planning, our church build has begun.  We saw a lot of progress right away in the last week of March with excavating, connecting power, forming footings, pouring the footings, tying steel rebar for foundation, and installing forms for the foundation walls.  It was exciting to see such progress in just a few days.  With willing and energetic workers, the footings were complete.  Not only were the men busy working, we are thankful for the ladies in the congregation for preparing and delivering meals and snacks to the crew on site.
